Comporta changes beautifully through the year, and Casa Libélula is designed to reflect that rhythm.

Spring: The jasmine blooms, filling the air with scent as it winds around the pergolas. The rice fields flood and frogs begin their nightly chorus.

Summer: The fields turn emerald, dragonflies dance in the heat, and long evenings end with pink-gold sunsets.

Autumn: The rice turns golden, and harvest begins. The light softens, the beaches are empty, and days often stay warm well into October and November.

Winter: Winter in Comporta is mild, with plenty of bright days and temperatures that often hover in the high teens. Light a fire or wrap up on the terrace with a book.

The spirit of Comporta

Comporta’s beauty lies in its balance — raw nature and refined simplicity. The villages, with their whitewashed houses and thatched colmo roofs, are home to charming boutiques, markets and restaurants. Artisans sell ceramics, linens, jewellery and ropework beside world-class hotels and beach clubs.

Casa Libélula is in Brejos da Carregueira de Baixo, Comporta, 10 minutes south of Comporta village itself and 5 minutes north of Carvalhal. Lisbon International Airport is just over an hour away.

From the house, you can walk across the rice fields to a deserted stretch of coastline — no crowds, no carparks, just golden sand and the ocean. A gate pass also allows guests to drive across the fields and park under the shade of bamboo before walking over the dunes.

Guests also have access to private padel and tennis courts within a short walk, available by small hourly fee. In summer, enjoy post-match pizza and drinks from a local food truck beneath the pines.

The Sado Estuary nature reserve is close by — a haven for storks, flamingos, dolphins and, of course, dragonflies.
